A visit to Machu Pichu in Peru

Well, on our Second visit to SL  we'll be visiting Machu Picchu in Second Life a proyect of Universidad San Martin de Porres (USMP).

According to Wikipedia....
Machu Picchu (Quechua: Machu Pikchu [ˈmɑtʃu ˈpixtʃu], "Old Peak") is a pre-Columbian 15th-century Inca site located 2,430 metres (7,970 ft) above sea level.[1][2] It is situated on a mountain ridge above the Urubamba Valley in Peru, which is 80 kilometres (50 mi) northwest of Cusco and through which the Urubamba River flows. Most archaeologists believe that Machu Picchu was built as an estate for the Inca emperor Pachacuti (1438–1472). Often referred to as "The Lost City of the Incas", it is perhaps the most familiar icon of the Inca World.

We'll meet at URBE EFL Center in SL at 2:00 pm (Venezuelan Time). 11:00 am. SLT
Our Meeting Point: http://slurl.com/secondlife/The%20Mist/213/86/21

Smile!!!!!

This is a great talk about .. why we should smile... so listen to the teacher and smile..you will live longer...

As the presenter says..

So whenever you want to look great and competent, reduce your stress or improve your marriage, or feel as if you just had a whole stack of high-quality chocolate -- without incurring the caloric cost -- or as if you found 25 grand in a pocket of an old jacket you hadn't worn for ages, or whenever you want to tap into a superpower that will help you and everyone around you live a longer, healthier, happier life, smile.
Keep smiling hope and peace!

A poem for your Mom!!

According to Wikipedia.....

The modern Mother's Day is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in March, April, or May as a day to honor mothers and motherhood.

Well, ....we are celebrating Mother's Day next Sunday.. what are you doing to tell your mom how much you love her...?

This is an idea.... Write a poem!!!

In order to do that here you can fin three examples:  Fun EFL Task: Writing a Poem

This is a little one I made for my mom..

Ivonne Perez
By: Doris Molero

Ivonne
Happy, little bit crazy, loving, inspiring
Mother of  Ivoncita, Ivan, Doris and Ruben
Who loves Chavez, her family and helping others
Who is afraid of rats, crime and being alone
Wants to see her grandchildren grow and her family happy
Resident of my heart
Perez

Well, have fun writing a little something for your moms.. and Happy Mother Day to all the moms of the world!

Welcome to my blog Task!!!

Hello, everyone.. since everybody should be working on your blogs this week.. This is an example you can follow to write your welcome to my blog post.

A. Read about Juan. (this is just a model.. feel free to add more to the different paragraphs)

In this blog I will post my school homework for Level 7. I will use it to practice writing, listening, speaking and reading. Also, i will share it with my classmates and people from the world.

Hi, there! My name’s Juan Gonzalez but you can call me Juanchi. I’m from Maracaibo, originally. I live in Maracaibo, in Monte Claro. I’m 20 years old and I study engineering at URBE . My favorite subjects are mathematics and English. This trimester I am taking 4 classes and I am in the 7th trimester.

I love music, dancing, playing soccer, driving my car (I have a red sport car), surfing the net, studying English, talking on the phone with my friends, pizza , chocolate, my family , my country and my dog.

I hate onions, listening to hip hop, getting up early on the weekend, violence, war, injustice, and washing the dishes. I can't stand people smoking.

My dream is to travel around the world, visit the Pyramids in Egypt and The Eiffel Tower in Paris. Of course, I want to graduate from Engineering School and be a good engineer. I also want to learn to speak French, and Italian. I’d love to work in an important company and buy a house, get married and start a family.

About English, I love to learn new languages. I think English is very important. I listen to music and watch TV in English. It’s a good exercise. I also chat on the internet and have friends in many countries. I can write well, but I need to practice more. The most difficult for me is speaking. I want to practice in class and out of class, too. I hope I can make a lot of friends and practice speaking in this class.

Well, This is a little bit about me. Hope you liked it... Please, leave a comment!

Keep on Shining Love and Peace!
Juanchi

Welcome April - July 2011 Class!!!

Welcome, everybody!

This new trimester, we will be learning in a blended connected way. But what is that? you may be asking yourself. Well, let's try to explain what it is about. To start with:
  1. It is mostly about learning and practicing your English.
  2. You will be reading, listening to, writing and talking about different topics in English.
  3. It is about learning English using technology. That means we will be using computers and internet to find real updated information concerning your different interests. We are going to experiment and play with new ways to learn autonomously. Learning for life. Learning to learn. Learning by doing. We will watching and listening to videos as well as making videos. We'll have the chance to use different tools to express our ideas and interact with people.
  4. It is about learning and practicing your English in groups, in community. Be ready to meet students and teachers from the university and the world. Of course, there will be tasks you must complete on your own.
That was a general description of the course. Now, how the classes take place:
  • If you can't come to classes, you can connect at home or wherever you have access to a computer and Internet.
  • You need to get a google account, since we will using different tools provided by Google. make sure to register to Gmail, Google Reader, Google Talk, Google Doc, and Blogger
  • Blogs are going to be your personal journals. There you will register everything we do in class. All your homework and tasks should be there.
  • Every class will be a taken as a workshop or TALLER. Try not to miss your classes and if you do, keep your blog updated.
  • Homework will be assigned for each one of the units covered in class. The dateline to hand in your homework will be the day of your test. It means you will have the chance to work on your blog till the exam day.
  • Corrections to writing will be done through Google documents and with the help of tutors.. try to get one.. Go to Bloque F and meet our tutors. .or find a friend that watn to help you-
  • We will also use social networks to keep in touch: Facebook and Twitter
